Commercial Subgirts

Maco steel subgirts are engineered to deliver strength, accuracy, and long-term reliability for exterior wall systems. Subgirts create a stable secondary framing layer that support cladding, roofing, and soffits, helping to manage thermal efficiency, and simplify installation.

Maco offers a larger variety of subgirt sizes:

Standard Widths: 3/4” to 6”
Standard Lengths: 120” to 144”

Custom widths and lengths are also available.

Building under construction with exposed framework and covered windows.

Advantages of Steel Subgirts

Continuous Insulation Support

Creates space for continuous exterior insulation, helping improve thermal performance, reduce thermal bridging, and increase overall building energy efficiency.

Cladding System Compatibility

Can be used with a wide variety of exterior finishes, including steel siding, metal panels, fiber cement, composite panels, masonry veneers, and other cladding systems.

Dimensional Stability

Unlike wood furring, steel subgirts will not warp, twist, shrink, split, or rot over time. This helps maintain a flat, consistent cladding surface throughout the life of the building.

Structural Strength

Provides a strong, reliable attachment system for exterior cladding while adding structural support to the wall assembly.

Long-Term Durability

Resistant to fire, moisture, insects, mold, and decay, steel subgirts provide decades of reliable performance with minimal maintenance requirements.

Moisture Management

Forms a drainage and ventilation cavity behind the cladding, allowing moisture to escape and promoting airflow.
